Production Scheduling Q&A
International Competitiveness with the help of Production Schedulers
Our company is satisfied with the results of our many years of KAIZEN activity in regard to the production of good quality products at low cost and high volume. Recently, we are facing the challenge of having to improve our international competitiveness to compete against overseas factories that compete on cost.
JIT (Just in Time) Production Schedule
The production items at our factory consist of a mixture of prospective production items and sales production items. Amongst our regular prospective production item production schedule it is necessary to intermingle JIT (Just in Time) sales production items as well so creating the production schedule is extremely troublesome. Isn't there a good way of making a JIT schedule?
Mold Process Production Schedule
Our company is performing plastic molding. There are 10 to 20 molding machines and we have several hundred types of mold. When making our production schedule it's essential that we decide whether a mold is usable or not. If we can't then we can't make a schedule that is executable on the factory floor. However, because there are an extremely large number of mold types we have the additional restriction that some molds made be in repair and so unavailable for use. Please tell us a way of creating a production schedule that considers molds.
